Welcome to Barano

Wood-Fired Pizza & Handmade Pasta

Barano is Chef Albert DiMeglio’s modern Italian restaurant in South Williamsburg, built around the heat of a wood-fired oven and a deep respect for craft.

After more than three decades in New York’s most iconic dining rooms — and as co-founder of the beloved NYC pizzeria Rubirosa — DiMeglio returned to what he loves most: cooking the Italian food he grew up with, guided by instinct, experience, and fire.

Named for his grandmother Giuseppina’s hometown on the island of Ischia, Barano blends old-world technique with a playful, contemporary spirit.
The kitchen turns out naturally fermented pizzas, handmade pastas, and dishes meant for the center of the table, alongside natural wines and classic cocktails.

This is Italian food through Chef DiMeglio’s lens — rooted in tradition, but always evolving.

Come hungry.
